The Power of 40 Days

You may have noticed that there are a lot of things that have the number 40 in the scriptures and in life.

  • Noah: 40 days and 40 nights.
  • Moses: Wandering in Desert 40 Years
  • Jesus: Fasting 40 days and 40 nights.
  • Pregnancy: 40 weeks

The number 40 represents change. It holds the power of renewal. The power of 40 days is in that it can lift a spiritual state.

This 40-Day Meditation Challenge starts TODAY and ends on Easter.

Ponder:  Why are you doing this challenge?  Why do you want to meditate?  How do you want it to help you?

Take time to write down 1 or 2 things you would like to gain from this challenge.  Comment and share them with me if you want!

Add them to your prayer sheet.

Take time to look over your next 40 days.  What do you have in store between now and Easter Sunday?  What are you excited about?  What are you nervous about?  What do you want to accomplish?  How do you want to feel while accomplishing it?

Make a list of these things and what you want.  Also add to your prayer sheet!

If you don’t know what a prayer sheet is?  Here is a post to explain.

Today:  Focusing on what you want will help you to achieve it.  Take time to write down what you want and put it someplace you will see it consistently.  Create a prayer sheet and/or add what you wrote above to it.

Part of meditating is being in the present moment.  Look at the list you created, does it feel like a lot?  Does it feel like too much?

Take a deep breath and let it go.  If you are holding the paper, physically let it go.

Take a deep breath and let the expectations go.

Breathe in and think – I am present in THIS moment.

Breathe out and relax.

It is helpful to pair your meditation practice with something you do daily already. I love pairing it with my morning prayer.  Some like pairing it with evening prayer.  Think of of a time when you can take 1-3 minutes a day to dedicate to meditating.

  1. I’d love to be added to a list for the 40 day challenge. Is there something I need to do?

    Thanks,
