Understand the Doctrine to Change Yourself

President Boyd K. Packer stated:

True doctrine, understood, changes attitudes and behavior.

The study of the doctrines of the gospel will improve behavior quicker than a study of behavior will improve behavior. . . . That is why we stress so forcefully the study of the doctrines of the gospel. [“Little Children,” Ensign, November 1986, 17]

I think this is one of the reasons why Eternal Warrior Classes are so powerful.  We are learning doctrine.

Study Scriptures Daily

We are also strengthening ourselves through studying the scriptures daily.

And now, as the preaching of the word had a great tendency to lead the people to do that which was just—yea, it had had more powerful effect upon the minds of the people than the sword, or anything else, which had happened unto them—therefore Alma thought it was expedient that they should try the virtue of the word of God. [Alma 31:5]

Do you know it is important to study the scriptures daily?

Do you actually study the scriptures daily?

Try the virtue of the word of God!  There is power in it.

I love that by the end of Eternal Warriors Class, so far each of my students has a daily habit of studying their scriptures and it is so ingrained it would feel so wrong to miss a day.  Just like it would feel gross to go to bed without brushing your teeth.

I heard a great Speech from BYU by Todd B. Parker
“True Doctrine, Understood, Changes Attitudes and Behavior”

There were so many great points in there.  Including the quote I started this post with.

Take time every day to immerse yourself in the scriptures.

You will be blessed.
