Lessons From the Deep – Whales Bringing Joy

I want to dive into a personal experience that significantly impacted me—whale-watching in Hawaii.

**A Whale of an Experience**

During a trip to Hawaii, we ventured on a whale-watching cruise. Although it was early in the season and our start was rocky due to technical difficulties with our original boat, our spirits were high. Despite not seeing anything but birds and water for an hour and a half, our hope didn’t wane. Suddenly, excitement broke out as someone spotted a whale. The group gathered eagerly, and finally, we witnessed the magnificent creature breach the water, numerous times.  Each time the boat erupted with cheers!

What stood out was the shared joy and enthusiasm among us. Simply being a whale, doing what whales do naturally, had everyone cheering. It left a profound impression on me—how one can bring happiness to others just by being themselves.

**A Souvenir of Insight**

Determined to bring back a memento from our trip and wanting something meaningful, I searched at each shopping area for something that would touch my heart.

I knew I needed something whale-related. On nearly the last day, I stumbled upon an extraordinary photograph of a mother whale swishing her tail above her baby whale close to the surface of the ocean.  The picture evoked a deep sense of motherly protection and love, reminding me of the Heavenly Mother’s nurturing presence in our lives.

**The Power of Being Cheered for Just Being You**

The trip taught me a beautiful lesson—how lovely it would be if people celebrated us just for being ourselves. The photograph symbolized this idea, hinting at the support from those around us and even from heavenly figures, who cheer for us as we are. It reinforced my goal to encourage and be there for others the same way.

Remember, you bring joy to the world just by being you!
