Apps are a fun way to meditate.  There are lots of meditation apps to choose from.  I have tried a lot and will share a few good ones with you.

The great thing is that you already have a routine to meditate, so if you have extra time you can open an app and add an extra layer to your practice.

Or if you have extra time at a different time of day you can use an app as well.

The first app I will share is a meditation timer app called Insight Timer.

I like Insight Timer, as I mentioned yesterday I love timers.  For all parts of my life.  They are great for meditating too.

This app can do a lot of different things.

  • It can be as simple as setting a timer for 3 minutes and starting.
  • There are guided meditations you can listen to, with a lot of filters available to choose a good one.  From the time you have available to picking different topics you want to work on.
  • There are groups to join.
  • You can also track your progress.

For now, I am going to focus on the timer aspect of this app.


Download Insight Timer onto your device.

Click on the timer icon on the bottom.

Pick a duration of how long you want to meditate.

If you want, choose an ambient sound.

For fun pick an ending bell that is pleasant.

You can save this timer as a preset, so next time it will be ready to go.

Click Start and begin:

Using your finger movements

Breathe in Peace & Calm

Pause (2,3,4)

Breathe out and Smile

Pause (2,3,4)

Repeat until your timer dings!
