In a world that often hustles us from one moment to the next, it’s easy to lose sight of how fasting, feasting, and asking can guide us toward what we truly desire.
Inspired by a beautiful tradition shared with me by my friend Cytel during Lent 2023, this approach has brought clarity and growth in my life, and it might do the same for you.
Introduction to Fasting, Feasting, and Asking
Fasting is more than a religious practice—it’s about abstaining from distractions or habits that can hold us back. Or even fasting from good things can bring about more focus in other areas!
Feasting is diving deep into enriching practices that fulfill us.
Asking is the spiritual and conscious act of seeking what we need.
This trifecta can help mold our intentions in powerful ways.
Personal Experience with Fasting and Feasting
In 2023 my focus was on communication with my husband, Rob.
I fasted from avoiding conversation
Feasted on open communication
Asked for a deeper connection between us.
This brought about a positive shift in our relationship!
New Focus for this Season
This season, my focus has shifted.
While I love creating “Finding Joy in the Journey” content, I’ll be fasting from creating new content for it. Instead, I hope to repurpose existing material to stay connected with my audience.
Starting something new means feasting on a topic I’ve cherished for over 11 years.
The Story of Jay and Emma
In March of 2014, I met Jay, a nonverbal 12-year-old boy, and his mom, Emma. Our connection was profound, and through energy work, I sensed Jay had a message meant for Emma. With her blessing, we embarked on this new journey together, leading to what has become a cherished friendship.
On my new podcast, you’ll hear more about this beautiful connection and the message Jay wanted to convey to his mom.
Launching a New Podcast
I’m thrilled to announce a new podcast diving into tools and experiences for working with autistic children and their families. This project has been years in the making, based on experiences with clients over the past 11 years. While my heart is full seeing this new venture come to life, I am also sad to step back from my current podcast. Yet, life calls for shifts and new beginnings.
Hopes and Aspirations
As I embark on this journey, I’m asking for the content I create to reach and benefit those who need it most. Helping families navigating life with autism brings me joy, and I hope to extend this impact through my podcast, reaching ears and hearts that may be comforted by it.
Applying the Fast, Feast, and Ask Method
As we approach the Lent season or any time of transformative work, you might consider adopting the fast, feast, and ask method in your life.
Whether it’s fasting from negative self-talk, feasting on self-kindness, or asking for increased self-love, the possibilities are as endless as they are personal.
I invite you to reflect on your journey and share your experiences with me. Together, let’s embrace this voyage.
In closing, what will you fast from, feast on, and ask for over the next few weeks?
I’d love to hear your stories and see how this method can bring about meaningful transformation in your life.
Let’s embark on this journey together!
