My favorite scripture is 2 Timothy 1:7 “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”
Fear seems to swirl around us all throughout the day and night. I work very hard to stay shielded and grounded so that I can stay in a place of peace.
When I am making a decision, I try to check first if I am making that choice out of fear. If so, I need to re-evaluate. When I first started paying attention to this I was amazed at how often I was making decisions because of fear, especially as a Mom.
These fears can come from society, false beliefs, previous experiences… you name it.
So when I notice I am doing that,
- I Stop.
- I Pray and ask for help making a choice out of love, power and a sound mind.
- I take a deep breath and then ponder my choices again.
- As I re-evaluate I usually make a different choice. If I make the same one I started with, at least I know I am not making it out of fear. (Or if I am still making it out of fear, I am aware of it.)
- With God on my side I need not fear!
Pause before you make choices and decisions today, are you making them out of fear? Or are you making them out of love, power and a sound mind?
John 5:39 “Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life.”
