Sometimes after having someone on my main Prayer Sheet for awhile, it is time for them to come off. Their particular challenge may be done, so I don’t need to pray for them specifically every day. However I have developed a great love for them by praying for them, so I don’t want to just cross them off. I wasn’t sure how to handle this.
Someone mentioned a prayer box. You take their name and write it on a little slip of paper and put it in a box. Then you can pray for the people in your box. (That sounds a little funny, but I think you understand.)
When I heard about this idea I really loved it and started to look for a box that felt right. A few days later my son came home from an European Adventure with my parents. He brought us all home a gift. He brought me home a beautiful Music Box with room in the box for me to easily add people. It became my Prayer Box.
Now at least once or twice a week when I am doing my morning prayers I add in something like, “Please bless all the people in my prayer box too.”
This can also really be a good tool for those things you are worrying about – and sometimes by actually having this thing on your prayer sheet and saying a prayer for it each day increases your worry about that topic. That is a perfect thing to add to your prayer box. Pray and leave it in God’s Hands!
Ponder and Pray about creating a Prayer Box. How will it look for you? How can you use it in a way that honors you and your situation? If you feel like you should, then find a box or ask that one will be brought to you.
