We had the privilege of hearing our prophet Thomas S. Monson speak to us yesterday.
I felt the spirit as he spoke. There were a few minutes I saw a younger President Monson. I could see his vibrant self just come out.
Energy fading away…
As he finished that part of his address, I saw energy drain away and he slowed down and I got a little nervous for him.
So what did I do?
I prayed for him. I prayed that he would be sustained, that he would have the strength he needed to finish his message to us. That he would be able to press forward. I closed my eyes and prayed my heart out for him.
2 Angels – Heavenly and Earthly
When I opened them, he was still looking old and tired and speaking carefully and slowly. However I also “saw” an angel on each side of him, supporting him. I felt confident that he would finish the message that God had asked him to share.
I feel like thousands of us watching, were uttering prayers on his behalf at that very moment. In response God sent his angels to physically and spiritually support him. I cried to be able to see him finish his message. It was powerful to see so clearly how our prayers helped him to have the strength to do so.
Then when he was done speaking 2 earthly angels came to his side to help him back to his chair.
I wasn’t sure I had really seen those angels. (I didn’t with my physical eyes, but rather my spiritual eyes.) Then I read of a little girl who drew a picture of what she saw with each speaker. In President Monson’s drawing, she had 2 men on each side of him. I think she saw those angels too. I think we all helped call them there with our faith!
Our Prayers Help Hold Him Up!
Let’s always pray for our prophets, apostles and all our general leaders, they carry a large load and need our faith and prayers!
I loved this post, where Greg said he wished he could have come held him up.
I think that our prayers do just that. Our continued love support and prayers will sustain President Monson as he finishes the work God has for him to do.
My favorite quotes from his talk.
I thought it was a wonderful talk and well worth all the effort he put into giving it. It makes me want to work even harder to do as he asked us to do.
“As we make Christ the center of our lives, our fears will be replaced by the courage of convictions,” President Monson you are full of courage! You are a wonderful example to me, to press forward to do what God asks me to do, even when we are tired and things get tough.
“To each of you I say that you are a son or daughter of our Heavenly Father. You have come from His presence to live on this earth for a season, to reflect the Savior’s love and teachings and to bravely let your light shine for all to see.” Thank you for letting your light shine for me! I will continue to strive to let my light shine.
